Even though Vijay brings several memorable films to fans, “Thalaivaa” is more special among fans due to the issues the film faced upon release. Every year on August 9, Vijay fans launch a hashtag regarding “Thalaivaa” and show their love for Vijay. This year, they chose # 8YrsOfIdolizedThalaivaa as their hashtag and are flooding the tweets under the hashtag to recall their memories of the action thriller. But did you know that “Thalapathy” was the first choice of title for “Thalaivaa”?

Director AL Vijay is said to have planned to name “Thalapathy” as the title of his film with Vijay and has had discussions with director Mani Ratnam to reuse the title as he holds the title. But the conversation did not turn out to be positive and AL Vijay was forced to choose a different title. AL Vijay then named ‘Thalaivaa’ as the title of the film, and it was more powerful than the first one.

“Thalaivaa” was considered a political drama before its release, and the film’s subtitle “Time To Lead” caused the problem. The film was released on August 9 worldwide except Tamil Nadu, as the film has been banned from release in the state. Vijay later fixed the issues and the film was released on TN after ten days on August 20. But “Thalaivaa” still received a good reception at the box office with good numbers.
