Cheshire East and West first choice primary schools figures

MORE children in Cheshire East received their first choice primary school compared to children in Cheshire West.

On Tuesday, many families across the boroughs found out which elementary school their children will be attending this fall, on what is commonly known as National Supply Day.

In Cheshire East, 98% of children got their first choice.

In West Cheshire, that figure was 92.7%.

A spokesperson for the Local Government Association said: ‘Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important things a parent will do, and this time of year can be extremely stressful.

“Everyone wants their child to be in a school where they can be happy, safe and reach their full potential.

“Councils have also responded to growing demand with the creation of hundreds of thousands of new places in recent years.

“It’s a demonstrable record that they are doing everything they can to meet the challenge of ensuring that no child is left without a place.”

You can appeal to your local authority if you are unhappy with the school you have been allocated – but beware that these deadlines vary from council to council.

This is usually 10 days from the submission of tenders.
