HELENA — Jacob Curry helped Capital High’s boys’ basketball team to 13-2 for the season and has the Bruins as one of the best teams in the entire state, but his impact at Helena goes well to the beyond what he does on basketball look.

“He’s a terrific student.” said Capital boys basketball coach Guy Almquist. “He has a great work ethic and does everything we ask him to do, but what really sets Jacob apart is how much he cares about others.”

Jacob Curry’s caring nature is felt throughout Capital High School.

“I strive to get involved in whatever I can.” added Capital High senior Jacob Curry. “I play three varsity sports, I’m president of a club, and I participate in four or five other clubs at school. I also like to be involved in the community as much as possible and get out and help out.”

One club that Jacob devotes a lot of time to is Bruin Pure Performance. A club at Capital High that helps promote healthy lifestyle choices to Helena’s students.

“I’m the president of Bruin Pure Performance, a club that promotes a healthy lifestyle and avoids drugs and alcohol.” Curry added. “We’ll be talking to elementary and middle school students about the dangers of alcohol and drugs. While we’re at it, we’re also promoting a healthy lifestyle and teaching them the importance of being active. , to eat well and to make good choices.”

Curry truly enjoys helping and supporting others. While most of this is felt in his work in the classroom or in the community, it also shows in his play on the pitch.

“He certainly wants to have personal success, but team success and relishing the success of his teammates is huge for him.” said Almquist. “Having someone like that as a captain in your team and one of your best players is really beneficial for our program.”

Jacob Curry leads in the classroom, on the basketball court and in the Helena community and it’s what makes him this week’s Mattress Company Student of the Week.
